About the Bureau

Akwa Ibom State, hitherto, made little or no effort to transform public procurement until 2015 when the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel came to power and created the Due Process Office. 

The Objectives of this Law include: to:-

regulate, monitor, supervise, evaluate and audit the public procurement processes of all procuring entities in the State

harmonize the existing government policies and practice on public procurement

‚Äčtrain personnel and build State-wide institutional capacities for a sustainable and efficient public procurement system

ensure probity, accountability and transparency in the conduct of procurement activities in the State

ensure the establishment of fair pricing standards and benchmarks

Ensure the application of fair, competitive. transparent and value-for-money standards and practices in the procurement and disposal of public assets and services

create ample opportunities for the citizenry, particularly, small and medium  scale enterprises to partake in the economic opportunities and benefits of public procurement in the State

create a cost and time-efficient and effective adjudicatory mechanism for the resolution of complaints arising from the public procurement processes in the State filed by procuring entities, bidders and the general public
